Wish You Were Here explores how we hold desire in our bodies. We seek connections within families, across continents, cultures, languages and time zones. Each connection made or missed is an encounter with the Self. The journey within facilitates encounters with the child, lover, mother, crone and other aspects of the self – past, present and future.

Of the firm belief that reclaiming and owning our desire is a step towards empowerment, the four artistes work with the intuitive body to access deep layers of knowing, feeling, memory, sensation and possibility. Longings, fears, unrealised impulses as well as love, laughter, desire and whimsy are allowed to emerge from the body-mind consciousness and are showcased through dance, movement, text, sounds and photographs.

Conceptualised and directed by Brinda Jacob-Janvrin (Dance/Movement), the project brings together artistes Kirtana Kumar (Theatre/Film), Magali Couffon-Trevors (Photography) and Benson Issac (Theatre/Gender studies) in a collaboration that is part dance-theatre, part movement installation and part photo/video exhibition.
Sound Design is by Konarak Reddy.
